Welcome to the Block!

In 1869 George Arms built a 17,000 square foot four story building in the center of Greenfield Mass. and called it the Arms Block. It was an 1869 mall with a hardware and supply store, a clothing store, a doctor, printing company ect.

Fast forward to the present and the building has transformed into the Arts Block. It’s a collection of various businesses just like in 1869 but with a completely different twist. It is now a mall of entertainment with The Arts Block Café, The Queen of Cups Tea Shop, The Wheelhouse and The Pushkin.

Starting in the basement of The Arts Block is the Wheelhouse a 105 person basement bar with 1890 graffiti on the walls. You can at times find some great jazz as well as a variety of music especially the kind that says bring earplugs. Then another time you might find a play or a comedy troupe.

One floor above that is the Arts Block Café a 445 person music venue. Walk through the door and you think you are in NYC – both by the look of the place and the great sounds you will be hearing. You might well find yourself dancing up a storm here.

Through the Arches from the café you step across the ocean into The Queen of Cups Tea Shop --- a real British tea shop where you can have a fine tea and scone or just a great cup of coffee or expresso with one of there specialty cookies or cakes.

The Arts Block has a variety of spaces for rent. If you are interested in that special kind of event rent the tea shop for you and thirty of your friends for a High Tea. Or have a loud and crazy birthday party in the Wheelhouse for you and a hundred of your friends. Or put them all together with the Arts Block Cafe and have an event for up to 550 people.

The Arts Block has a full liquor license and can cater events of all kinds. The Arts Block Cafe has a professional sound system with PA, monitors and a twenty four channel sound board.

Across the street there is one more world – The Pushkin – a three-story concert hall with marble walls and acoustics similar to St. John the Divine. You can hear a great classical concert here or some cutting edge music that takes advantage of the amazing acoustics.

It is also a first class art gallery and a recording studio. All under one roof. It has multiple spaces for rent from the wood paneled conference room that seats twenty to the main gallery that seats 120. The Pushkin has a beer and wine license and will offer catered packages for any event.

Finally, there is the Arts and Music Factory the label and distribution source for the Arts Block. Here you can explore the work of visual artists who are part of the block or download music recorded by Arts Block performers.
